**Preamble memorization due on February 18th.

**We are starting our constitution unit in Social Studies.

**This week in math we will be working on pages 598 and  602 in our math book.

**We have started our reading novels and have started taking quizzes in class on our reading.  Your students will start meeting with me once a week to discuss thier books.  They will have packet pages to complete this week, ask your student how they are doing on thier work.  Reading Schedules for all books are also included in the "documents" section, in case you misplace your original.

**We are continuing our unit on Heredity this week.

**I have sent home a list of students for your students valentines.  If your child is participating in the valentine exchange, please make sure that they include every student in our class so that we can avoid hurt feelings.  We have 27 students in our class.  Your student will also need to create a valentine box to bring to school on February 12th (the day of the party).

**Our 5th grade patriotic program will be performed for parents on March 11th at 1:30.  Your students have been working hard and would love to have you there to support them.

**Students have been given a packet with three options for thier memorizations.  These memorizations will be due on April 15th.  If your student gets thier memorization done before the deadline they may pass it off early.  Do not leave this for the last minute.  These are longer memorizations and take more than a night to learn.

**With cold season in full swing we are still in need of tissues for our classroom.  It is amazing how fast we can go through a box when a few of us have the sniffles.  Thanks to those of you who have already donated!  Our noses appreciate it!
