7TH GRADE ENGLISH -- Second Term!

Book Reports for 2nd Term:  Students will be writing their 2nd term book reports.  Remember that these books are read outside of class; however, the book reports are written in class.  Total points for the book report will be 100 points.

• First part of the book report (worth 25 points) will be on November 10 or 11.  
• NOTE CHANGE:  Second part of the book report (worth 25 points) will be on Nov. 30 or Dec. 1.
• Final part of the book report (worth 50 points) will be on January 5 or 6.
• Note:  If a student finishes a book early, he or she may complete the book report early!

Journals:  Students will keep information in their journals (spiral notebooks) throughout the term.  Journals will be turned in the middle of November.  Remember that these journals are an important and large part of a student's grade. 

Literature:  Students will be reading "Legends of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving.  The Honors class will also be reading Wanderings of Odysseus, a retelling of Homer's epic The Odyssey.

Grammar and Writing:  During the second term, students will write two essays, learn vocabulary words using prefixes and suffixes,  and continue practicing the eight parts of speech.  The Honors students will also write an essay and a creative writing assignment with their study of Odysseus.
