Dear Parent(s),

     My name is Mr. Woodbury and I would like to welcome you and your child to my 4th grade class. I wanted to write this letter to let you and your child know what to expect during the up and coming school year. I believe in running a well disciplined class which involves active, everyday participation by each child.  You and your child should expect to have nightly homework on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Many of the items that will be given as homework will most likely be new for your child and if you or your significant other could please check your child’s nightly homework before he or she hands it in, it will ensure that they are learning what they need to.

    I would like to know if any of you would be able to come into the classroom during the year and assist myself and the class in our day to day activities. While a good teacher can accomplish much, parental assistance is instrumental to the success of his child.  Any help that you are able to offer during the year will be greatly appreciated. If you are able to come in and volunteer please put your name, phone number and the days you can come in, on the back page. If you or significant other have any special skills or talents; artistic, cooking, working with children, etc. then please let me know because I am fully aware that your talents can be a great benefit to the children in our class.

     Again, I look forward working with you and your son or daughter during the upcoming year and I thank you for coming to meet with me this evening.
