This quarter we will focus on CRT review and test taking skills along with characteristics of a watershed.
Our essential questions will be:
HOW DO SCIENTISTS ASK SO MANY QUESTIONS AND WHERE DO THEY FIND THE ANSWERS?
Water: - Where does it come from and where does it go? and Who Really Cares?
Much of the quarter will require teacher supported but self guided research into a topic about watershed ecology.
Students will be required to ask a specific research question and design a project that will measure data about their topic.
The research will be presented at the end of the quarter in a Scientific Poster Format and high quality posters and presentations will be selected to be part of the City Academy Science Fair on June 4th.
ANY TIME YOUR STUDENT SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE ANY WORK THEY CAN GO TO THE LIBRARY OR LOOK ONLINE TO FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR RESEARCH QUESTION. HAVE THEM PRINT OR COPY AN ARTICLE THEY UNDERSTAND AND THEN EITHER FILL OUT A READING LOG OR WRITE A SUMMARY OF WHAT THEY LEARNED. THEY WILL ALSO HAVE ARTICLES FROM CLASS THAT THEY CAN USE ABOUT: 1 Land Use 2 Stream Chemistry 3 Biological Factors 4 Physical Characteristic
