Parent Notes

Hello Parents,

The AP test for 2009-2010 will be on FRIDAY, MAY 14, 2010.  Please keep this day in mind when planning family activites in the spring.  We have intensive reviews and practice tests during the last week of April and the first two weeks of May.  It is a big disadvantage to miss any part of these review days.

1st Tri students

I added a few bookmarks on South Africa and Apartheid. please read them.  Also, add the Kurds to the list of ethnicities that you need to know.  I have also updated all the CH 7 powerpoints in the documents column.  I also added a bookmark on the UYGURS (pronounced WEE-gurs) article I talked about, and one about the Serbs and Balkanization.  (last 2 bookmarks)  If you read these and come in and tell me about them, you will permanatly be on my good side :)  (you might get a bit of extra credit for 3rd trimester also)

NEW STUDENT

Welcome to AP Human Geography.  I am excited about this year as we have expanded our program to 90 students.  Last year we had a 77% pass rate on the AP test so I look forward to preparing all of you to match or beat that pass rate record.  I feel there are 4 habits that you can form that will ensure that you pass.  First, Attend class both physically and mentally.  Second, participate in class with questions and comments.  Third, DO THE WORK.  This sound simple enough, but if you are not doing the work to lean the material, you won't learn it.  And Last, Form study groups.  a study group is one of the best ways to study in a way that you will retain the information.

Throughout the year I will constantly give you more helpfull hint on how to be successfull in our class as well as on the AP test.
