Week of December 7th - 11th

This week we will have Club Homework on Tuesday after school.  Please remember to have a signed permission slip in order to stay for Club Homework.  Homework includes practice with Nouns and Verbs, making a list of shapes inside your home, practice geometry and multiplication problems.

Please make sure that you are reading every night, practicing your word flash cards (if you have them), and practicing your keyboarding skills.  Remember to get credit for your at home reading YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PLANNER SIGNED BY A PARENT OR AN ADULT LIVING IN YOUR HOME.  Home reading minutes count toward entries into the Road to Success Reading Program Annual Contest, monthly drawings, as well as 30% of your reading grade.  More importantly, the more you practice reading the better reader you'll become.

There are a few things I would like to mention that are coming up soon:

1.  Pennies for Peace - We are currently working with the Pennies for Peace nonprofit organization to help students in Pakistan and Afghanistan get school supplies.  We will be collecting pennies from December 1st through January 30th.  For more information check out the Pennies for Peace document on the Home page of this site, or visit: www.ikat.org or www.penniesforpeace.org 

2.  Parents, please make sure that you are listening to your child read each night for 20 minutes and signing their journal.  This is a big part of their reading grade and will help your child tremendously improve their reading proficiency.

3.  Please go over your student's 2nd Trimester Goals with them on a regular basis and help them do what they need to, to acheive these goals.

4.  Holiday Party - We will be celebrating the upcoming holidays with a party on December 18th. Look for a note home about the party.
