About Special Education

ODYSSEY CHARTER SCHOOL's SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

According to Special Education law and common sense, all children deserve an appropriate educational setting which recognizes, appreciates and celebrates diversity. Every student has the right to be educated with his or hers same age peers. For our students with disabilities this may be a bit scary. The key to success is for the student's to receive the support they need in the classroom.  If your child has been recently classified to be covered IDEA, it will be a time of change and with change comes frustration, so lets stay in close contact.

If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact our department,  801-492-8105 x141

 INCLUSION CAN:

Stephanie Biscof, MSW

Stephanie is Odyssey’s school counselor.  Hello Everyone! This is my first year joining the staff and students at Odyssey as the school social worker. I recieved my MSW from the U of U in Salt Lake City. I have also worked in a residential treatment center and a community service agency before attending graduate school. I have always enjoyed working with youth, and have  had a desire to become a school social worker for a long time. My other passions in life include hiking, mountain biking, running, snowshoeing, skiing—and any other outdoor activities. I also have a
small black lab named Sierra who accompanies me on many of my outdoor
adventures.

Jaime Holst, BA SP Special Education Paraeducator

I was born and raised in Stillwater, Minnesota. I attended college at the University of Minnesota and received a BA in speech communications. One week after graduation I moved to the Big Island of Hawaii where I lived for six years. It was in Hawaii that I first started working in schools. I worked one on one with a student with Autism for over two years as his full time aide. It was during this time that I decided that working in special education was what I wanted to do as my career.

While living in Hawaii I met my husband, Matt, who by the way grew up only twenty minutes away from me in Minnesota. In Hawaii Matt and I enjoyed lazy days spent by the pool or at any of the amazing beaches that Hawaii has to offer. During my summers off I like to try and make it to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota, to spend time canoeing and camping with friends from home. My entire family lives in Minnesota and so I love going there every chance that I can.

As of April I am now a mom! My daughter is the greatest thing that has happened to me (& of course my wonderful husband). She is the sweetest little girl with a huge personality. She takes up all of my free time right now so I guess that my hobbies include staring at her all day and being constantly amazed by her! Check back in a few months and maybe I will be enjoying hobbies again.  I am very excited to be working with Ms. J. again in the sped dept here at OCS.
