Odyssey Charter School 3-Tier Model/RTI program

 

• Tier I:  Academics : OCS uses Research Based structured, systematic instruction that applies to the majority of students. OCS has implemented the ECRI model of instruction for Language Arts program for our students. It is a research based direct instruction methodology that is already demonstrating student successes!

 Behavior: the school wide and class wide preventative and proactive strategies that include “explicitly taught expectations, reinforcement and acknowledgment of following expectations, and systematic correction and re-teaching of behavioral errors.” Our behavior program (HEROES), is a research based program for school wide positive behavior supports! We have it! It includes; school-wide rules and clearly stated consequences that are consistent across all settings. Since the implementation of HEROES our discipline referrals have decreased significantly. The teachers uses dot sheets, tallies, and other systems to positively reinforce appropriate student behavior. We also have a school wide reinforcement program with BUGS Being Unusually Good! An opportunity for students to be 'caught' doing either random acts of kindness or other outstanding types of behavior. We are consistently looking to increase and improve on finding ways to, "Celebrate Student Success"!

Tiers II and III The academics at these levels represent additional or more intensive interventions that may be necessary for some students. At our school we use the Spalding Reading program to supplement our exisiting LA program.

• Tiers and II and III:   represent targeted behavioral interventions may include Tracking Sheets, contracts, Functional Behavioral Analyses, & Behavioral Improvement Plans.
