March 16 (B) and 17 (A)
Today we took the quiz on the states & capitals/physical features. If the students scored a 100% on either or both, they have tested out and do not need to take the tests on Thursday/Friday. (Just to be clear, if a student got a 100%, for example, on the states and caps. but not on the physical features, then on Thursday/Friday all they need to do is the test that they didn't score 100% on. Of course, if they didn't score a 100% on either quiz, they must be ready for the test on Thursday/Friday.) WESTWARD EXPANSION WEBQUEST IS DUE ON MARCH 22 (B) AND 23 (A).
March 12 (B) & 15 (A)
Today I introduced the States and Capitals/physical features map test. The students have been given a packet and some web sites to study from. The final map test will be given on March 18 (B) and 19 (A).
March 10 (B) & 11 (A)
Today the students submitted the "America's Great Indian Leaders" assignment & went to the writing lab to begin work on the Westward Expansion Webquest. The webquest is due on 3/16 (B) and 3/17 (A) The due date for the webquest has been changed to 3/22 (B) & 3/23 (A).
March 8 (B) & 9 (A)
Today we studied the the culture clash the occurred during the era of the Indian Wars. The students need to finish the packet entitled, "America's Great Indian Leaders" by March 10 (B) and 11 (A).
March 3 (B) & March 4 (A)
Today we took an open note test on the cultural regions map/cultural regions summaries (which was due today). Students were also able to finish Chapter 2, Section 1. (If any student didn not finish it, go to "My Documents" and open the electronic file of Chapter 2, Section 1 and finish the assignment at home. It is due on March 8 (B) and March 9 (A).
If you are unhappy with the score you got on your Open Note Test (using the cultural regions map/cultural regions summaries assignment), go to "My Documents," print off a "remediation" copy of the test, open the electronic link to Chapter 2, Section 2, and use the link to redo the test. Submit the remediation copy upon completion and I will bump your score for both your test and your assignment. (Your assignment was graded as a percentage equal to your test score. So my doing the remediation, I will raise both scores.)
March 1 (B) & March 2 (A)
Today: 1) We watched and discussed a video clip documenting the journey of the Native Americans into the Americas (NO HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS/QUIZZES ON THE VIDEO CLIP); 2) Began work on Chapter 2, Section 1 (which will be finished in class on 3/3 (or at home if you don't finish it in class). It is due on March 8 (B) and March 9 (A).
The lead day has switched to a "B" day rather than an "A" day. What that means is that I start a new lesson on my "B" days and follow with the same lesson plan on my "A" days.
