Y We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day.  This is a fantastic day to let people know how much you appreciate the things they do for you.  If you bring valentines, please bring one for each student in the class.  We won’t have a party, but we will have time to pass out Valentines and eat a treat.

Y Spelling and story tests

Make sure you are reading every night!  Those who read at least 20 minutes a night (which is your goal anyway) will be invited to a popcorn party.

Please have your banquet money here ASAP.  Bring it to the office in an envelope marked with your name, my name, banquet, and the amount.  We are asking each student to bring $2.00.

Your MA project is due on the 23rd which is 2 ½ weeks away!  I want to see every single one of you at the banquet.  I am a stickler on these project and will only except quality work.  Do your best and get it done early.

The last day of the trimester is rapidly approaching – March 4th!  That is the day after the banquet.  You need to make sure that you have all late work in that day – no acceptions!  If you don’t get your work in, you won’t get the credit.  I am not afraid to give you an “N” (which is equivalent to an “F”).  It is my dream to give every student an “A” in every subject, but I can only give you the grades you earned.  If you are missing work, it is your responsibility to come and get it for me during a recess.

I think you are all wonderful, kind people and I’m grateful that I get to be your teacher.

                                                                             Sincerely,

                                                                             Miss Buck

P.S.  Did you see the error?  Hint: frequently confused words.

Parent Notes

Dear Parents:

You have such wonderful kids.  I absolutely adore each one of them!

A few things you might like to know:

1.  We have a word within the word test or quiz every Thursday. Students should be studying WWW for about 10 minutes every night.

2.  We have a spelling test every Friday.  The words are usually posted on this site a week in advance.  There is spelling homework every night Monday through Thursday.

3.  Also on Friday, we have a test on the story that was read during the week.

4.  There is math homework every night (including Fridays).  This should take about 15 minutes a night.

5.  Students are to read at least 120 minutes a week (30 minutes four times a week or 20 minutes six times a week).  Students are to record their hours on a calendar was sent home at the beginning of the month.  They should also record their minutes on the Road to Success chart which is turned in every Monday.

6.  Please have your child come in after school if he/she is having a tough time with an assignment.  I am usually here until about 5:00 and would love to help if there is any sort of question.

7.  I do not make extra copies of missing work.  If a student is missing something, he/she will need to stay in at recess to make a hand written copy of the assignment.  I enter missing work into the computer only twice a trimester.  It is extremely important that all work is turned in on time!

8.  If your child isn’t feeling well (fever, sore throat, coughing), please keep him/her home.

9.  For students choosing to participate in the Science Fair, it will be on February 9th.

10.  Students have received their Middle Ages projects.  This is due February 23rd.  The banquet is March 3rd.

If you have any questions, send a quick email!
