Assignments

3/10/10 – The students turned in their disclosure statements.  The first part of the hour was spent discussing the daily classroom requirements for the Writer’s Notebook: grammar sentence, YSIS, SC, WOW, Grammar Punk, and learning log.  Each of these requirements is worth a point, for a total of five points per day earned by completing the Writer’s Notebook.  We also discussed the early writing of Stephen King and his start as a writer.  The assignment is to write your own version of the “I Am What I Am” prompt for tomorrow.

3/09/10 - Welcome back to third trimester!  To start this new trimester, we went over the disclosure statement, class rules, class expectations, and assigned each student a literature textbook.  The students should leave the literature textbook home for any homework assignment that we have.  I have a classroom set of textbooks that we'll be using for our in-class work.  Following the class business, we conducted an activity entitled "The Cash Register Story" which showed the students that working in groups to learn is beneficial.  The assignment for tomorrow is to turn in the signed disclosure statement at the first of the hour.
