Grovecrest Elementary    

We are approaching the due date for the State Report.  The entire state outline is due this Thursday.  We have been working hard to complete this in class but your student will have to work on it at home to get it finished in time.  It's important they finish it in time so they can start their written report.  The written report is due Mar. 29th.

March Book Report

Genre:  Poetry

Project: Memorize 5 poems  

The Requirements for poems:

   a.  4 lines is the shortest a poem can be, and only one poem can be this short.

   b.  One poem has to be at least 18 lines or 4 stanzas long.

   c.  Only two can be by Shel Silverstein

   d.  One poem has to be free verse (not rhyming)

   e.  When passing off poems they must be said with expression and proper phrasing.

   f.  After a poem is passed off, it will be written down in a flap book with a small picture.

Congratulations Mrs. Johnson's class!  Every single student handed in reading minutes for the first two weeks of January.  Our class only needed a total of 6,900 minutes and we had a GRAND TOTAL of 10,050 tminutes.  I am very proud of every student!

Dear Parents,

         We will have a Polar Express activity on Monday, December 21st.  Students will be allowed to wear appropriate pajamas, robes and slippers to school that day.   The ticket to board the train is the December Reading Minutes.   The December reading minutes are due Friday, December 18th.   Students will need to have read 13 days for at least 20 minutes for the calendar to be complete.
