COURSE: CTE Intro. (formally known as TLC)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: In the technology portion of CTE I, our focus will be to explore the technological advancements that have been changing our lifestyles. We will be exploring the areas of Communications, Manufacturing, Transportation, Energy/Power, Construction, and Agriculture/Biotechnology. The course also includes some career development and work-based learning activities. Students will work individually and in teams to accomplish the various activities.

GRADES: Students are graded by the work performed each day just like in industry as well as being graded on their starters/journals, lab/project work, class work, quizzes and tests. Each assignment will have a point value and the students grade will be determined on the point value he/she receives compared to the total point value.

Citizenship grade is determined by tardies and overall attitude, behavior, and cooperation in class.

** If a student is being unsafe or not following class/shop rules they will be timed out for the day. If it continues to be a problem they will lose their shop privileges.

** When a student is absent, they miss class activities, which can adversely affect their grade. Absences can be made-up and or extra credit can be earned through two activities: “Media Blitzes” and “Technology Written Reports”. Students will have a copy of both activities so that they will know how to earn extra points.
