| Assignments IMPORTANT EXTEMP. ANNOUNCEMENT!!! After the Region tournament, all Extemp. Articles must come from the March topics. 25% of your articles should be National. 75% of your articles should be foreign.
Student Notes Submitting EXTEMP Articles: Articles must be thoroughly documented. Consequently, They should come from www.pioneer.uen.org, an official government website, or a website you approve through Ms. Bates. Fill out an Extemp Article Cover Sheet for each article you submit. This form can be downloaded on the left hand side of this page. These articles need to be quickly accessible to our competitors, so you should either type or carefully print your information. Read each article and highlight the key facts and ideas. Annotate the article by writing basic headlines for sections of the article that a competitor might need to find and understand quickly. Turn the completed packet into the Inbox carefully labeled and stapled. THANK YOU! Parent Notes JUDGING: The Speech & Debate team must provide approximately one judge for every four competitors we bring. Ms. Bates actively recruits community volunteers, but is not able to singlehandedly fulfill our judge commitments. We can always use more judges. Judges must be high school graduates (or equivalent) who are willing to listen, take notes, and render win/loss decisions. Ms. Bates has information regarding the rules of each event that she will send with judges. You do not need to be expertly trained. Your common sense and unbiased attitude are sufficient.
