| Parent Notes SIS is up and running, and ready for parents to login. SIS is the sight I use for grading. You can now log on and view your child's grades, progress report, and missing assignments from any computer. The link is posted on the bookmarks section of the homepage. If you would like to know your child's password, please email or call me. I will not post passwords on line because they are private and only you should be able to see your child's grades. The weather is getting colder and children will still be going outside for recess and p.e. Please make sure your child wears a jacket or a coat on cold days or they will still go out without one. I am always looking for a few parent volunteers to help in and out of the classroom. i have typed up a list of things I need done, if anyone is interested please let me know.

Thanks, Ms. Child | Assignments Students will be writing 6 book reports this year. They can complete these at their own pace, as long as they finish six by the end of the year. I have listed 6 genres that the books must come from. All books must be chapter books. Please make sure your child chooses a book on his or her level. If there is any question, I can let you know. I have the book report forms when your child is finished with a book for them to complete. We will be discussing the different genres throughout the year, so if they're not sure what they are have them wait until we've talked about it. Announcements The Last Dragon Dear Parents, This week we'll read about a boy named Peter who is unhappy about spending the summer in Chinatown with Great Aunt. That changes when he restores an old dragon cosutme. Below are some easy ways to help your child practice reading skills. Read Aloud In the story, Peter is able to get the dragon costume repaired because many people in the community help. With your child, read aloud another story about people or animals who are able to do together what one of them cannot do alone. Fix It With your child, find something that needs to be repaired in your home or neighborhood and write a list of steps for how to fix it. Use reference materials as needed. Present your child with this situation: Think of a time when you weren't happy about doing something and yet you ended up having a good time. What made you change your mind? Fun Fact One legend about Chinese dragons claims that the farther they traveled from China, the more toes they lost. When the dragons made their way back home, their missing toes grew back.
