 November

**Book Orders are due on November 5th. Book orders are a good way to get wonderful inexpensive birthday or Christmas gifts. If this is the case let me know and I will arrange for the student not to see any of the gifts.

**PLEASE remember to read with your student nightly. It is their homework. Our school reading program is asking that we all read 100 minutes a week.
*Also, a reminder: Homework handed out on Monday is due the next Monday.

* A big thanks goes out to all those who volunteer in and out of the class. I really appreciate all the help. It means a lot to us all.

*Grades will come home on Nov. 18th. Please feel free to contact me if you have concerns or questions.

*This month we will be studying popcorn, Indians, and Thankfulness. If you ever have any questions about what we are learning or want to know the spelling words you can check our class website at; my.uen.org/myuen/70354

Topics we will be studying in class 

Language

Monitoring their own reading and asking themselves "Does it make sense" as they read.

Rereading for understanding. 

Short vowel /e/ and /u/ words and their rhymes (the parts of words that repeat in various words; ie: set, pen, bun, cup...). (Short vowel website)

Changing the onset (the consonants before the first vowel) to make new words  (ie: set, pet, net...).

Adding math facts doubles +1 (ie; 3+4=7 or 6+7= 13) quickly.

Reading a face clock to the hour.

Counting by twos.
