The following codes can help you as you check your grades in my classes:

• abs = The student was absent the day the assignment was turned in.  In most cases, it needs to be turned in as soon as the student returns to class.
• nhi = The student was absent the day the assignment was turned in, but DID NOT turn it in on time when he/she returned & it will now be considered late.  It is also given to students who were given extended time, but failed to complete the assignment by the new deadline.
  
• ext time = The student was given extended time to work on the assignment.  In most cases it is because the student was absent on the day the assignment was given.  Extended time DOES NOT mean unlimited time.  The student should see the teacher for an adjusted due date.  Students have one day for each day absent to make up missing work.
• ok = The assignment was turned in.  A score will be entered as soon as it has been graded.
• in-__% = The assignment was turned in, but it was late.  A score will be entered as soon as it has been graded.
• ex = The student was excused from the assignment.  This does not hurt or help the student's grade.  It is usually given when it is impossible for the student to make up the points.
• 0 = The student was in class and the assignment should have been turned in when it was due, but it wasn't.
• (  ) = No score has been recorded.  This usually indicates that the assignment is not yet due.
• redo = in order to receive credit, the assignment must be redone.
