 YOUR ACCESS TO MY ACCESS

 We are starting persuasive writing using an on-line artificial intelligence program called MYAccess.  With this program, the students get instant feedback on their writing, suggestions for improvement, and many opportunities for revision.  To access this from home:

• Go to www.myaccess.com.  (There is a link directly below this box  in the "My Bookmarks" section.) 
  
• Click on the "quick check" button.  Allow pop-ups for this site, please. 
  
• In most cases, the student log in is the student's first name as it appears on the official rolls of the school followed by the student's ID number.  The password is 999 followed by the student's last name. 
  
• Click on "Yes, this information is correct."
• Your personal profile will come up. 
  
• Click on the "Assignments" tab in the silver navigation bar at top of the screen.
• Click on the "start" or "resume" button next to the assigned topic.
• A divided screen will appear.  ALWAYS click on the "Prompt" button in the upper screen called "My Assignments and Feedback"  and check for "Special Instructions."
• To print your essay, click on the "My Portfolio" tab at the top of  your personal page.  Check the box of the essay you want to print.  Then click on the "View, print, save" button.  Your scored essay will magically appear.  Print this.  (In order to do so, you must disable the pop-ups for this site.) 
  
• To find the Persuasive Wizard and  other pre-writing activities,  click on the "Prewrite" tab in the "My Writing Space" ( lower box).
• To find the model papers, the Word Bank, the Writer's Guide, and the Persuasive Checklist,  click on the "Reference" tab in the  My Writing Space or lower box of this screen.
• For suggestions for improvement, click on MyTutor in the "My Assignment and Feedback" (upper section)  and then choose the area you want to work on.
• For suggestions for spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and usage, click on MyEditor in the "My Assignment and Feedback" (upper section.) 
  
• REMEMBER:  Use the Spell check in My Writing Space window.  (It has a much larger data base.)

• You may check your progress by clicking on the "My Portfolio" tab.

Taking a Test on UTIPS

1.  Open your broser (Firefox, Safari, Explorer)

2.  Enter this address --http://www.chillinout.myutips.org.  You will come to my teacher page.  On the left of the screen, you will see the assigned test.  Click on it.

3.  You will come to a login screen.  Click where it says Simple Login.  Type your first and last names.

4.  Take the assigned test.  If a password is required, type in chillinout.

5.  Click submit and then exit.

6.  Your scores will be sent to me automatically, and I will add them to Skyward.
