Assignments

5th Grade curriculum is exciting.

In  Science, we learn about Matter, Electricity, Magnetism, Heredity, Physical Features and Land Forms of the Earth.

We have an Art specialist, Rosie Mitchell, who will be teaching Art concepts throughout the year.

We will be reading lots of wonderful stories and novels to improve our reading skills and learn more about the world.

We will have Math activities to help fine tune math skills; for example, math facts competitions, math jeopardy, etc.

We have computers at our desks to write lots of stories, journals, projects, and activities.

Ms. Munns loves music, and will be using her guitar to teach music, theory, timing, harmony, and we will learn songs about America and other countries. Perhaps you have a favorite song you would like to share with the class and we can learn together?  Come prepared the first week to share that song.  We also will be learning how to play ukuleles.  They are similar to a guitar, smaller, but only have 4 strings instead of 6.

Student Notes

Do your homework every night.  Get into the habit of sitting down and completing before you do anything else.  You will develop a sense of accomplishment and when the time comes to hand it in, you will be relieved that you are PREPARED.  YaHoo!!.

We are developing skills that will last a life time.
Read, read, and read.  Every night we are reading.

Practice your math facts.  You must know inside and out the times tables from 1-12.   Practice the division side of your math facts.

Parent Notes

I sent home a packet of some items to be doing over the summer break.  READING is the very most important think I would like your child to be doing.  Don't forget to have fun, play lots, and have a wonderful summer.

I would like each child to be reading and recording not only their time but the title of the books they are reading.  I am doing the same.  I have completed my first book, and have written it on my reading log.
