Please remember to check grades every other week. Also, please check homework nightly, and sign completed, corrected work before you send it back. Homework needs to be signed for credit.
Do your homework. Read 20 minutes, work with progressive flash cards for 15-20 minutes a night (0-8 both multiplication and division). Study spelling and vocabulary, send folders every day, and correct and complete all papers as needed. In my reading class, spelling and vocabulary tests will be give on Monday of the next week. The new list will be sent home on Wed. for the following week.
Please remember that if you are in my reading class your book log and book report are due the last school day of Jan.
Everyone should have received an individualized packet on the keeping quilt. The due date is on the first page of the packet.
The Jan. book report is on the website. The specific instructions are that you need to summarize every chapter in the novel you choose for your report. It can be fiction or historical fiction novel. So that's a lot of summarizing! They need to turn it in, but we will not present to the class.
Students will be responsible for learning words to the songs of our Patriotic program. Songs are on the website and you can print them off at home.
Trips planned for this month include CRT or Ririe Woodbury Dance performance. I will send details on the dance trip soon. We will need 3 volunteers for that.
Also, we are short volunteers for the Val. Party.
Still would like to have a couple more volunteers to read to the class. Let me know if you can help.
That's all for now!

READING CLASS REMINDERS
You have a book report due at the end of January. Instructions are posted on the web site. This report focuses on the summarization of main ideas, and is VERY important to reinforce the concept of main idea.
Your book log is due the end of Jan.
Please make sure that you study your vocabulary, and hand in the definition list (from the dictionary), and synonyms (from the thesaurus).
While reviewing the grades, I noticed that several children were missing their “Keeping Quilt” packets and their 1st language packets. If these items are missing, e mail me and will be make arrangements for you to run copies of a second packet.
I have sent home the 2nd language packet today. It is due a week from Monday. You have over a week (and two weekends) to complete it. Each packet contains a review designed for your child at this point. Please work with them on it, and make sure you sign the pages upon completion.
We are ready to take our test on the Hundred Dresses. Three options will be available and it will be an open book/discussion test.
- Children can bring home a copy of the book, and do the test at home. The discussion would take place with parents, and help is encouraged.
- Children can take the test at school on their own, and use the book.
- They can take the test at school and work in discussion groups of three to record answers
