Monthly reading calendars are due at the end of each month; the reading requirement is 2 1/2 hours per week. 

Spelling List 8 will be for the week of November 30 - December 4th; pretest will be Thursday. It is suggested you create practice sentences using the spelling words. Spelling is only part of our word studies. Students must correctly use the words in a sentence for pre-tests. If the pre-test is passed with 90% or better, then there is no test Friday. Otherwise, a test will be given on Fridays. Students are struggling with the word use, but are doing better on the spelling part. 

Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick: student PhotoStories have been a big frustration for us due to technological setbacks, but we have found a way around that by writing a book review and video taping it. Filming to begin November 23rd.

BOOK WRITING: Students are writing their own book. The book they will use has 20 to 24 pages (8 1/2 by 5 1/2 size). Authors need to write their story, illustrate it, and then put it together. This takes some planning, which students are responsible for during the school day. Currently we are in the editing stage. Soon we will begin to place the story into the book. Illustrations come next and the cover is an in-school project.
