WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL…..You’re in sixth grade now! Together we will work to make this your best elementary school year yet. In science we study microorganisms, heat, light & sound, and astronomy. Today’s world stems from ancient civilizations, and we will connect the two worlds through social studies. Students earning their Lady or Knighthood will attend a Medieval Feast. It is your year to perform Shakespeare, learning all about his mastery of language.

MILL HOLLOW, the first week of school, is where we learn in nature’s own laboratory, get acquainted and have fun. We leave Wednesday, August 27th as soon as school starts, and return Friday, August 30th about 12:30, or slightly before the time school gets out at 1:05 p.m. You will be tired, dirty, and have your luggage, so please be sure you have a timely way to get everything home that Friday; you may want to be checked out of school as soon as we get back.

SEP CONFERENCE APPOINTMENTS with you and your parents are August 21st from 2:00 to 7:00; come with an academic goal in mind. Sixth grade is the time to become responsible for your own school performance. It is your education, not your parents or mine, so you need to think about how you will make it successful.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: a list of suggested supplies is on the back of this letter. Please put your name on your things! Also, bring a few photos of yourself, or magazine pictures of things you like to do, for a first-day-of-school poster. You may want to bring bottled water, as it will be hot; no juice or soda pop, please.

Until the first day of school, buckle up and take good care of yourself. You are about to have loads of fun learning in sixth grade. See you soon,  Mrs. Quealy (Quail-lee)
