Workshop is a Language Arts time where all 5th grade students are grouped based on their needs in Mrs. James' class, Mrs. Ellsworth's class or Mrs. Francom's class.  They rotate through three centers on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of every full week.  One center is the TEACHER CENTER.  This is where one group get specialized instruction from the teacher according to their needs in reading, spelling, grammar, and writing.  Another center is the SEATWORK CENTER.  This is where a group stays at their student desks and works quietly on spelling and word study.  The thrid center, CENTERS, is where students visit centers at the back of the room to do individualized work--grammar study, writing, and reading.  By Thursday, every center will have been visited three times with different instruction given each day.  All work from every center needs to be completed by Thursday and ready to be given to the teacher so progress can be assessed and grades can be given.  If students are absent, they need to do the work as homework.
