On Feb 1, students paired up to tutor each other to prepare for a quiz on the Government Types Vocabulary Assignment.  Students then took the quiz.  Next, we began a Power Point on the philosophies leading up to the US Constitution (see Constitution Philosophies PowerPoint).  Students were required to take notes.  There will be a quiz on the PowerPoint.

On Feb 2, in 5th period, we conducted our forum in which we pretended we were on an island and debating what kind of government we want on our island. Students spoke for or against proposals for 50 points.  Those who have excused absences may write a three page, typed, double spaced paper comparing and contrasting two forms of government. The report must be presented to the class.

In 7th period, students paired up to tutor each other to prepare for a quiz on the Government Types Vocabulary Assignment.  Students then took the quiz.

On Feb 3/4, we viewed a video entitled "The History of US Government." The video was about many of the writings of Locke, Montesquieu, and Machiavelli, as well as the Articles of Confederation, and the basics of the constitution. We then viewed more of the PowerPoint on the philosophies leading up to the US Constitution (see Constitution Philosophies PowerPoint). Students were required to take notes. There will be a quiz on the PowerPoint.

On Feb 5/8, we finished the PowerPoint on the philosophies leading up to the US Constitution (see Constitution Philosophies PowerPoint). Students were required to take notes. There will be a quiz on the PowerPoint next time. Students then received an assignment on several documents preceding the US Constitution (see US Government Origins Documents). It will be due next time. In 5th & 7th periods, students were also given a reading guide on the Declaration of Independence (see Declaration of Independence Reading Guide). It will also be due next time.
