Dunkelberger Daily

Dear parents,

I hope that you all had a wonderfully long weekend with your children!  Although long weekends are nice for everyone (except when it is Teacher Development ;) I am excited to have your kiddos back in the classroom for a great week of learning!

This week we have the following events:

  • Monday -- Art with Mrs. Winter
  • Tuesday -- Library
  • Wednesday -- a special Bookbinding "class" with a professional bookbinder, Kendra Last,  (Make sure ABC books are ready for this day!!) AND our first German lesson with Mrs. Hunter.
  • Thursday -- Art with Mr. Cepull and Computers with Mrs. Hill -- If anyone is interested, the artist, Mr. Cepull, has many of his personal pieces on display currently at the Covey Center for the Arts on Center Street in Provo.  His work will be displayed from February 5 - 27.
  • Friday -- Valentine's Day party! (2:15 - 3:15)
A quick note about the Valentine's Day Celebration: I hope that you all received the red note that I sent home with your child on Thursday of last week.  IF that note did NOT get home, you should know that students will be allowed to create a small box in which other students can insert or leave their Valentines to your child.  These boxes can be as elaborate or as simple as your time allows.  If you get the chance, the more creative they can be the better!  I also want you to know that the school is doing a fund-raiser for Haitian Relief * VAL-O-GRAMS*.  These are notes that come with a small treat and are delivered by the Student Council on 2/12.  They are 25 cents each and are available for sale until Thursday at lunch.

As another note about our Valentine's Party, I will be planning the party this time around and am looking for any parents that might be willing to volunteer their time to "run" a small game or activity this Friday from 2:15 - 3:15.  I am also looking for any volunteers that might be able to provide treats for that day.  If you would be so kind as to email me with your name and what you would be able to help with, that would make my life SO much easier!  I have already made the basic outline of our party...I just need some help in getting everything put together for that day. THANK YOU and sorry for the late notice!

Just a few last notes about this month.  We are really trying to focus on getting our basic multiplication skills down and students should be practicing these basic facts every night throughout the month.  Please don't forget to sign their pink calendar when they do.  Handing in that calendar on the 26th will help them earn money for Wall Street.  We are also participating in the school Read-a-Thon and have made a class goal of trying to read for 45 minutes daily!  I know this is a big goal, but let's really try to work on achieving it!  The YELLOW calendars are the way we track our reading progress.  Also, our TALENT SHOW will be on Friday the 26th right after lunch.  Please turn in the slip letting me know what your child will be doing by this Friday.  LAST NOTE!!!  Grades will be coming out on the 26th as well.  I will be sending home a note on how to log onto Skyward as soon as I get them from our secretary.  Feel free to "check" on your student's progress at your convenience!

Thank you so much for all that you do!  I sincerely appreciate your continued support!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Dunkelberger
