All students need to show up to welding with their Coveralls, Safety Glasses, Welding Gloves, and clothing that is acceptable to weld in.

Department: CTE

Course: Welding Technician, Entry

Instructor: Cash Williams

 

1.       Students will understand what welding is, and how valuable it is in the construction and fabrication of everyday amenities.

2.      Students will gain an understanding of the many welding processes and understand the basics of how these processes work.

3.      The students will practice safety in and around the welding shop and understand the importance of practicing safe actions in all they do.

4.      The students will perform safety inspections of equipment and accessories and determine if machines should be used.

5.      Students will understand basic first aid and know what to do in case of an emergency.

6.      The students will be required to perform daily cleanup procedures and understand the importance of keeping the shop cleaned up.

7.      Students will use basic hand tools safely to build and fabricate projects in the shop.

8.      The students will understand the importance of math and measuring skills while building projects out of metal.

9.      Students will have to read blue prints and follow them directly.

10.  Students will weld in different positions using MIG, Oxy Acetylene, SMAW, and cut with a plasma cutter and Oxy-Acetylene Rig.
