| My Favorite Sayings: "Goals are stars to steer by; not sticks to beat yourself with." "Choose to have a GREAT day!" "Happiness makes up in height for what it lacks in length" About Mrs. Belt I grew up in Nevada and central Utah (Monroe) with one younger brother. I went to BYU and changed my major every semester because I love learning about different things and didn't want to limit myself to one thing. I finally graduated in Family Science human/child development. I fell in love with teaching in 2007 when I taught 4th grade at the end of the year. I found that there is nothing better than having a difficult situation and figuring out a solution. I love to see children's eyes light up with new understanding of a new or difficult concept. I finished the state requirements for my state teaching license this past summer. I learned so many great new ideas and I'm excited to incorporate them into our classroom. I have spent the past two years teaching 3rd grade on a part time basis and am excited this year to go full-time in 5th grade. I love Odyssey and have spent 2 years as the chair of the Safety Committee and volunteering in my daughters' classrooms, and two years as a room mom. I am married to my sweet T.Jay and we have three children: Kylie is in 7th grade; Alyssa is in 4th grade; and Treyson is in Kindergarten. I love being in the same school as all of my children. My all-time favorite subject in school is History. I also love to read. Historical Fiction is my favorite genre, along with children's literature. My favorite book is usually the last one I read, and right now would have to be the Wednesday Wars. I love Little Women and the Little House on the Prairie series. I went to Puerto Rico in April 2007 and I was able to see the oldest light house in the Atlantic! It's my new favorite place to visit, but I would love to go to Europe. My favorite food kind of depends on my mood but I do love the garlic shrimp salad at chili's and the green chicken chili salad at Bajio. If I'm craving a drink, it is probably a fountain drink of a pepsi/diet pepsi mix. I love to read, scrapbook, take pictures, kneeboard, water-ski, snow ski, garden, and nap! I'm excited to be at Odyssey again this year and look forward to an awesome year! I'm thrilled with the challenge of teaching 5th grade and all of the great curriculum! |
