Homework:  The purpose of homework is to review what was learned in class that day.  This helps the knowledge transfer from the short term memory to long term.  Classwork not finished in class due to messing around/distractions is NOT homework (it is still due the next day, but it was classwork).  Call me with any questions/problems.  801-735-9438.

Monday: Write a paragraph (about 1/2 page) about why people moved West in the 1800's.  What was the journey like (difficult or easy) and how would you have felt?  Would you have gone?  Read for 20 minutes.

Tuesday: Complete the Shurley test worksheet we reviewed in class today.  Do the entire page - by yourself.  Read for 20 minutes.

Wednesday: Play the Oregon Trail game online (see the link in the history tab).  If you don't have computer access, watch Little House on the Prairie on PBS or read a book about that time period.  Read for 20 minutes.

Thursday: Write journal entries for a week of traveling on one of the trails we learned about.  Read for 20 minutes.

Friday: Shurley test worksheet.  Read for 20 minutes each night.

Here is the new daily schedule:

8:05-8:15: DLR

8:20- 9:20: Math

9:25-10:40: Language Arts

10:45-11:15 (M, TH): Music; 10:45-11:30 (T, F) Latin

11:15/30 - 12:18: History/Science

12:18-1: Lunch/recess

1-1:10: writers workshop edit

1:10-1:30 (M, Th) or -1:50 (T, F): Shurley Grammar & spelling

1:30-2 (M, TH): Computers/Library; 1:50-2:10 (T,F): PE

2 or 2:10 till 3:00: Writing Workshop/Literature/DEAR

We will still do geography and art on Wednesdays.  We'll see how this schedule works out.  Hopefully, the students will be able to pay more attention to history/science if it's earlier.
