Daily Required materials: Text book, graphing calculator, school planner, notebook, pencil.

(Text books and calculators will be provided by the school. School calculators are to be used at school only.  If either of these items are damaged or lost, fines will be issued.  If a student needs to use a calculator for homework assignments, they must be provided by the parent).

Citizenship grades: Will be lowered for the following reasons:

·        Disruptive/Disrespectful classroom behavior

·        Excessive absences and/or tardies

·        Coming to class unprepared

Absences: It is the students’ responsibility to find out what was missed and make it up within the same number of days as the absence was for.  If a test or quiz was missed, the student may arrange a time to come in before or after school to make it up.

Grading: There will be three components to each student’s letter grade.

1.      Assignments                       (40%)

2.      Tests/Quizzes                     (30%)

3.      Jumpstarts/Participation      (30%)

Assignments:

·        Given daily.

·        Assignments that are not finished in class will be homework.

·        Assignments will be corrected and turned in the day after being assigned.

·        Half Credit will be given for any assignments turned in late.

·        Each assignment will be worth 25 pts.

·        To receive full credit on an assignment, the student must: Write their name at the top of the page, write out the problem, show all work, have the score at the top of the page, turn it in on time.

Tests/Quizzes:

·        Quizzes will be given as needed.

·        Tests will be given about every 2-3 weeks, usually at the end of a concept learned.

·        Tests will be given to demonstrate what the student has learned.  It is recommended students begin to learn good study habits in preparation for each test.

·        In the instance of a lower than expected test score, test corrections will be allowed and the student may earn back up to half the points missed.

·        A comprehensive final will be administered (CRT) and will be a part of the students final grade.

Jumpstarts/Participation:

·        Jumpstarts will take place the first five minutes of class each day.

·        Jumpstarts will consist of questions regarding the previous day’s assignment.

·        Jumpstarts are worth up to 5 points each day, 25 points each week.

·        Being on time and coming prepared will guarantee a perfect score each day on Jumpstarts.

·        Participation points may be earned by doing the following:

o       Coming to class prepared.

o       Completing assigned work while in class.

o        Contributing to class discussions.

o       Completing math problems on the board when appropriate.
