Instructions for Note Pages
2nd Quarter
Measurement Graphic Organizer: Write the conversions for the customary, such as 16 oz = 1 lb. Write a real world example for each. On the metric write the units in scientific notation and give real world examples.
100’s Chart:
1. Circle any number less than 50 (n). Now, multiply by 2. (2n = __) and square that number. Now, subtract 8 (2n-8 = ___) and put a star on that number. Next, work backwards to get back to the number (n). Did that work? Write 2n-8 = on the back, then substitute your chosen number to check the star on the front.
Write the expression as you do this (2n - 8 +8 ÷ 2 = n). Discuss
what operations students used to work backwards. Q. Would it matter what order you “undid” the operations when you were trying to get back to the original number? Try changing the order so that we do 2n – 8 ÷ 2 + 8 = ___. Did we get back to your original number? Q. What would have happened if we replaced ÷ 2 by x ½ ?
2. Triangle on any multiple of 5 (n). Now, divide by 5. (n/5 = __) and oval that number. Now, add 14 (n/5 + 14 = ____) and put a double star. Write the results on the back as you did number one. Next, work backwards to get back to the (n) where you began. What operations can you use to work backwards? Write the expression as you do this (n/5 + 14 – 14 x 5 = ____). Q. Would it matter what order you “undid” the operations when you were trying to get back to the original number? Try changing the order so that we do n/5 + 14 x 5 – 14 = ___. Did we get back to your original number?
Exponential Expressions Journal Page: Print this out and fill out the information from 4.2 in the test book.
Geometry Words: Print this out and use the books terms to define.
Scientific Notation: Print this out and use 6.9 for the needed information.
3rd Quarter
The Geometry Unit:
Classifying Solids: You can try to do this on your own, but you will probably need to make the shapes. You can use the ones in the classroom.
Counting the Area of a Square: Just follow the instructions.
Fray Model-4 words Circle: Use you textbook and the dictionary on this website.
Geoboard: This will require my help, but there is information coming. Draw the following:
1) a parallelogram across 4 dots and down 2, evaluate the area.
2) a rectangle across 5 and down 2, evaluate the perimeter and area
3) a square 5 dots and 3 dots, evaluate the perimeter and area of each
4) an equilateral triangle that is five dots across the base make the sides the same distance, evaluate the perimeter and the area
5) a regular trapezoid 3 dots across at the top and 5 dots across the bottom, evaluate the area
6) an isoceles triangle
7) a scalene triangle
8) an irregular trapezoid
9) a smaller parallelogram
10) two different shape and sized rectangles
Journal Geometry Words for Three Dimensional Shapes: Use you textbook and the dictionary on this website.
Linker Cube Volume and Surface Area Comparisons: You can do this without the cubes. Come in and you can work on it.
Pre Algebra Reference Sheet: This is just information.
Geometry Final Project: Follow the instructions.
Transformations
Print thisw out along with the leaves and do the asignment. Use the textbook to find the definitions. For the leaf graph, cut out the leaf of your choice, place the stem by the y-axis with the side of the leaf laying on the x-axis, trace, make 20 points, and follow the directions on the page.
