| Assignments Week of Nov. 23-27: 23rd-- Lesson 49-Solving 2 step word problems 24th- Lesson 50-Finding an Average 25th- No School 26th- No School 27th- No School HOMEWORK: There will always be math homework unless students have finished their assignments in class. Check your student's math folder each day to make sure their assignment is finished. | Announcements ATTENTION: I have included some supplemental worksheets in the document section of this page. Just click on the folder and it will bring up several math worksheets. If your student is struggling in these areas, these worksheets can give them extra practice. Students will get full credit on their assignment if they have made the necessary corrections to those problems they missed. This is the standard that the rest of the school is following. It is the way the Saxon math program intended the grading to be. The tests will be the true sign of whether or not a student is grasping the concepts. Don't forget to check your student's homework plan each night. Your students are fabulous to work with. I am really enjoying our math class. Everyday we practice math facts. The students are given 5 minutes to complete 100 math facts. Recently we have been practicing addition, and now we are heading into subtraction facts. In the next few weeks, students will be practicing multiplication facts. Please practice these facts at home. It is our goal to have every student complete all 100 multiplication facts in 5 minutes or less. This math class is called Saxon 6/5. Students will be practicing their math facts everyday with a 5 minute timing at the beginning of class. We begin with addition then subtraction, multiplication and division. We then correct the assignment from the previous day. We will go over practicing mental math and then learn a new concept. After learning the new concept, the students will have the opportunity to practice the new concept before they begin their class work. GRADES: Your students grades will be posted in SIS. You may get their I.D. number from the office. I update students grades at least weekly. Generally, I post students grades daily. Please check SIS frequently to keep posted about their grades. I will also send out mid-term progress reports to let you know of your child's progress. HOMEWORK: Students may have homework if they did not finish their classwork in class. There are generally between 26 to 30 math problems and students are given about 25 to 30 minutes to complete their mixed practice. If time runs out or if the student has not used their time wisely, then the assignment becomes homework and is due the next day. I have included in the documents section of this page, the school's homework and late work policy. Please make sure you become familiar with this policy. If you would like to see me about your students, please contact me via email at acall@odysseycharter.net or phone at 801-492-8105 ext. 203 to set up an appointment. |
