What is the meaning of a point of intersection?
What could this point of intersection represent?
Intro to solving systems of equations (2 variables in two equations).
In Class 4-67, 4-68, 4-69 a & b
|
Monday and Tuesday 12/1-2/08
4.2.1 Team challenge determine the meaning of different points of intersections from different graphs.
Each team present the solution to their problems to the rest of the class.
Finally, teams will create their own situations, graph the situations showing the point of intersection, and write a paragraph explanation for their work.
|
§ Students will understand the meaning of a point of intersection.
§ Students will understand what this point of intersection could represent.
§ Student teams will create posters to show what a point of intersect might be.
§ HW 4-71, 4-72, 4-73, 4-74, 4-75

How can I solve a system of linear equations by looking at a graph and by making a graph when given two tables?
In Class 4-76, 4-77, 4-78
|
Thursday and Friday 12/4-5/08
4.2.2
Students will work in teams to solve real world problems that translate into systems of linear equations, then apply their understanding of multiple representations to these systems.
|
§ Students will understand how to solve a system of linear equations by looking at a graph and by making a graph when given two tables.
§ Student teams will create posters to show multiple representations of a point of intersection.

How can I solve a system of linear equations algebraically when both equations are written in slope intercept form?
In Class 4-85, 4-86, 4-87
|
Monday 12/8/08
4.2.3
Students will solve systems algebraically when both equations are in slope intercept form (by using substitution).
|
§ Students will understand how to solve a system of linear equations algebraically when both equations are written in slope intercept form?
§ HW 4-90, 4-91, 4-92, 4-93, 4-94
|
|
How can I solve a system of linear equations without a graph when the equations aren’t both in slope intercept form?
How can I solve a system … when both equations are in standard form.
In Class 4-26, 4-27, 4-28, 4-29
|
Tuesday & Thursday 12/9&11/08
4.2.4
This will be a team project to make posters showing multiple representations of systems of equations. Each team member will turn in a written product at the end of the assignment which explains what they have learned about solving systems of equations.

Last Updated for 12/2/08
All students needing to retake Q2 Test 1 will be required to demonstrate an effort toward learning (studying) overseen by the mandatory study program at City Academy. I will be glad to work with students by appointment outside of class (before or after school or during lunch most days). Students will be encourged to, and reminded to make an appointment for a makeup test.
